Need some classroom games up your sleeve for when your students need a brain break? These classroom games have all been rated 10/10 from the students and teachers that do Gymnastrix programs this term. Crazy CountingWhere - Students stay at their desks Rules - Must count in ascending order, If students say the same number as someone else the games resets Description - All students are quite at their desks, Teacher starts the game by saying 1, students then have to try to continue counting without repeating a number or having two/more students say it at the same time ( if that happens whatever number the class up to is the record and start again.) What makes this games hard and addictive is it has to be random counting, no pattern of what student says what number should occur. When first playing this game, if any student says the same number as someone else, they are out and stand at their desk. Only 4 rounds of outs must apply for the record to be set, after that everyone is back in. Level 2 - Add skip counting Next week I have two classes playing this game counting by 3's A great maths activity "Who said that"
Silent BallWhere - Standing, spread out around the classroom
Rules - If a student makes a noise (speaking, clapping) they are out and sit back at their desk and continue their work Description - Students start throwing a bean bag or two to each other around the classroom. Throws must be under arm and has to be a fair catch to the other student. I always have a couple of winners as I don't wont too many students missing out on playing. Students can also get out by: Dropping the bean bag Hold it for too long Pass back to the same person And reminder if they make a noise Students can't argue why they are out cause then they are making a noise A great game for hand eye coordination |
